“Babe, why are you crying?” You asked, throwing your arms around him. You looked up to see Peter vigorously wiping tears from his eyes. You were disrupted from your contempt position when you felt something wet on your head. He was so frozen in shock, he didn’t know what to say. He didn’t remember you saying anything about being depressed. He knew exactly what they were, but he didn’t understand why. Peter looked down and saw them beginning to creep out from your shorts, a questioning look on his face. Because you weren’t paying attention, you didn’t realize that your shorts had begun to ride up on his lap, beginning to expose your scars. Your eyes shut for a second because you were so comforted. You had your legs shrewn over his lap and your head on his shoulder while he rubbed your back, tangling his fingers in your hair. You greeted him with a small kiss and led him to the couch before you went to the kitchen to start making snacks. You quickly threw on a pair of loose shorts you deemed to be long enough and opened the door for him. You cursed, forgetting that you had invited your boyfriend Peter over for a movie night. You were staring at yourself in the mirror when you heard a knock. You couldn’t wear short shorts, you couldn’t wear a bathing suit. Your thighs were littered with scars and you cursed yourself while looking in the mirror, knowing that if anyone ever saw it, they’d judge you immediately. You tried to hide it by only cutting on your thighs. You couldn’t feel anything but the numbing sadness, so you cut to try and at least feel something. You had no way of expressing your depression.
